If you're comfortable using lines and shapes, you're ready for some intermediate lessons, such as a frog or a snowboarder. ![]() Overlapping: When you draw something in front of something else it's called overlapping. By overlapping the frog's front legs it makes the back legs look farther away. This gives your picture depth. And you've got a cool illustration for a report on amphibians.
Form: When the lines and shapes of something do not look flat, you can see its form. Drawing curved lines and shapes makes a rose look 3-dimensional or "3-D."
Draw a 3-D Triceratops! By carefully positioning the shapes for the head and overlapping the legs, you can make the oval shape for a Triceratops body look 3-D. Now that you're warmed up, get ready to draw a snowboarder or a Jeep, shown below.
Note: Some of the lessons were drawn on a computer, so your pencil lines may look a little lighter and rougher around the edges.
